You said you’d stop after this one. Then the result comes in, and “just one more” starts sounding reasonable. This is why a limit needs to exist before you open a game.
A play plan won’t change the outcome. What it can do is give you a clear decision about your money and time before the moment gets distracting.
1. Leave essential money alone
Start with what you need for rent, food, transport, bills, savings and anyone who depends on you. That money stays outside your play budget. If losing an amount would leave you short, you cannot afford to put it at risk.
There may be weeks when nothing is left after the essentials. That is a reason to skip play, not a reason to borrow or hope a result will cover the gap.
2. Choose an amount and a stopping time
“I won’t spend too much” is hard to act on. A specific spending cap and a specific stopping time are clearer. Decide both before starting, and stop when you reach either one.
For example, if you’ve set aside a short break, don’t let it quietly turn into the rest of your evening. Set a reminder and make a plan for what you’ll do when the time is up.
3. Don’t ask another entry to fix a loss
A previous loss does not make the next outcome more likely to favour you. Increasing your spending to recover what is gone can leave you further behind. Keep the original limit even when you’re disappointed.
4. Notice when it stops feeling like a choice
Hiding what you spend, borrowing to play, missing responsibilities or repeatedly breaking your own limits are reasons to pause and seek support. You do not have to wait for the situation to become worse before speaking to someone.
5. Use the support available
You’ll find deposit limits and self-exclusion in your Golotto account information (sign-in required). Our Golotto support team can help you find and use these controls.
You can also read our Betcamp responsible-gaming guidance and our Golotto responsible-gaming guidance. If play is affecting your finances or wellbeing, stop and talk to someone you trust or a qualified professional.
You don’t owe a game another attempt. Taking a break, or choosing not to play at all, is a valid decision.
